Who we are
At Brookview we’re striving to be a community of people where love is lived. While things like going to church regularly, reading the bible, and praying are vital for our growth as Christians, the ultimate aim of these practices is to actually become people who are devoted to loving God and the world around us the way Jesus would. We believe that love needs to be lived out in all of our relationships and should reach outside our circle of friends and family to a hurting world. With this in mind, Brookview is reaching out to those in need overseas as well as in our own community. Our church services are designed to equip Christians for living everyday life through modern worship music and messages that challenge, inspire, educate, and prepare believers for living. Our desire is to produce an environment that is warm, inviting, and makes sense to people with little or no church background but is also challenging for people who attend regularly. We strive to communicate the good news of Jesus Christ in a way that is sensitive to the apprehensions, past church experiences, and knowledge level of people with very little church experience. Our goal is to love and accept everyone just as they are, but challenge them to grab hold of all that God desires for them!
Brookview church is made up of a collection of flawed people trying to figure out how to live the way of Jesus.
In the fall of 2002, Pastor Jason, his wife, Jen, and their then two children Katelyn (3 at the time) and Cameron (2 at the time) moved from Bellingham, WA to start Brookview. The church began with three other couples in the Lynnwood area meeting in a living room. Brookview began public church services at the old Lynnwood High School, across from the Alderwood Mall, in the fall of 2003. Our dream has been to help people fall in love with God and respond to that love by letting God empower them to love those around them. In the Fall of 2009, we moved along with the school to the new Lynnwood High School on the North Rd.
Though Brookview is filled with a wide array of volunteers who make the church run, Pastor Jason and Jen are currently the only paid staff. Over the last few years, Jason has continually had the strange recurring dream that he’s a middle-relief pitcher for the Seattle Mariners.
